Sylvia du Menil went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Her Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:30 am at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Texas with Reverend Jim Price officiating. Sylvia Ester du Menil was born December 31, 1924 and died at age 92. Sylvia received her Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and her Master's degree in Home Economics at the University of Texas in Austin. Her Thesis for her Master's degree was Discipline of German Children in early Texas. Sylvia worked for a number of years for Senator Weinert from Seguin, Texas. She served a long career as Director of Food Services at the Seguin Independent School District managing a staff of 50 employees providing meals to all of the Seguin ISD campuses. After retiring from public service, she served the Cross Church as church secretary for many years.
Sylvia was born the fourth of four daughters of Benno & Elizabeth Betty (Bading) du Menil; her three older sisters, Norma Anderson of Sequin, Bertha Anderson of La Marque, and Adelheid Willmann of Comfort, all predeceased her; her three brothers-in-law, Levi B. "L.B." Anderson of Seguin, Dr. William Thomas "W.T. or Doc" Anderson of La Marque and Eugene Otto "Gene" Willmann of Comfort all predeceased her as well. Sylvia was known affectionately by her ten nephews as "Aunt Ishie." The nephews are Wayne Lynn Anderson of Seguin (deceased), Dennis Glenn Anderson of Arvada, Colorado, Lowell Benno Anderson of The Woodlands, William Lee Anderson of Texas City (deceased), Dr. Benno du Menil Anderson of La Marque (deceased), Dr. Thomas Frederick "Tom" Anderson of Christoval, Richard Dean "Andy" Anderson of Ennis, Dr. Donald Eugene Willmann of Fair Oaks Ranch, Gary Lee Willmann of Ingram, and David Michael Willmann of Austin. Sylvia was faithfully attended to in her later years by her niece Carla Anderson, the widow of Wayne Anderson and her nephew Lowell Anderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to her home church - Cross Church, 814 North Bauer St, Seguin TX, 78155 or donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association . Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home.
