Sandra "Sue" McCune was called home by our Heavenly Father on November 13, 2024. Sue was born on January 20, 1945 in Quincy, Illinois to Leonard and Mary Louise Howlett, sixth of seven children. She married her high school sweetheart Jerry in 1962 at Grandview Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois, when she was 17 years old, and he was 19.
Finishing Quincy High School in 1963, she earned her GED and then Certification in Secretarial and Shorthand from City College. During this season of starting and raising a family, she embarked on a career encompassing many types of positions including Secretary, Bookkeeper, and Executive Assistant. All the while, she was a devoted wife, doting mother, incredible cook, and matriarch to her family. In 1976, she moved with her family to Seguin, TX and remained there. She was a member of Cross Church in Seguin, which she attended with her husband (who had been a deacon).
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry McCune Sr., her parents: Leonard, and Mary Louise Howlett, brothers: Charles, Ronald, and Larry Howlett, and sister Delores. She is survived by her children, Jerry Mac and wife Pam of Nacogdoches, TX; Jim of Seguin, TX; and Jeff of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Madison (and husband Dan), Gabryl, Connor, and Ilyana, great-grandchildren, Hazel and Nate, and her brothers, Jerry and Ted Howlett.
An avid reader throughout her life, she loved most of all her Bible, being often encouraged by Philippians 4:4-8 and Isaiah 49:25. With a quiet but strong faith, she enjoyed spending her time praying for those whom she loved and knew. She loved Jesus, her husband, and her family well, and is dearly missed!
