Rose Hunt

April 23, 1923 — October 26, 2016

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, Rose Hunt departed this earth to return to her heavenly home. Born Rose Julia Billnitzer on April 23, 1923 in Riga, Michigan, Rose was a daughter of the Rev. Ladislaus Desederus Billnitzer and Clara Walters Billnitzer. Her family moved from Riga to Texas in 1928 when her father was called to serve as a minister in Jourdanton, and later Marion where Rose graduated from high school in 1940. She grew up a child of the Great Depression with 9 siblings, yet she described those years as "... very happy with so many brothers and sisters. Even though money was scarce we made do with what we had." She played the organ for services and served as a substitute teacher. On November 12, 1942, she married Clifford Bancroft Hunt, an active member of the U.S. Air Force. They remained happily united for nearly 65 years, until he passed through death into eternal life on October 2007. Before his last deployment they settled in Seguin, Texas, where they continued to reside after his retirement. Rose was a full-time homemaker, remained active in her church, and also served as a Den Mother for boy scouts. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Ladislaus Billnitzer and Clara Billnitzer; by brothers, Martin Paul, Carl, Harold, and Theodore Billnitzer; sisters, Mary Sagebiel, Anna Harrison, and Ruth Taylor; husband Clifford B. Hunt, and son, Rev. Willie Hunt. She is survived by her brother, Herman Billnitzer; by daughter-in-law, Laura Hunt; son, Craig S. Hunt and his wife Kathy Hunt; and grandchildren, Aaron, and wife Jennifer, Jacob, Kevin and wife Tiffany, Kassandra and Kaitlyn Hunt; and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Karson, Liberty, and Ember Hunt, as well as many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends. Memorial services will be held at Texas Lutheran University Chapel Of Abiding Presence at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church and Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, Texas.
Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin, TX.
