Rosalie Kocian

Rosalie Julia Sedlar Kocian, of Seguin, died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born in Hallettsville, LaVaca County, Texas on October 2, 1932 to Frank and Julia Mican Sedlar. She married Vladik E. Kocian on October 2, 1951 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Vladik Kocian, her parents: Frank and Julia Sedlar, brother: Franklin Sedlar and brother-in-law: Phillip Smirak.

Survivors include her children: Rosemary Rudeloff (Ranny), Josephine Halm (Donnie), Carolyn Mead (Charles) and Michael Kocian (Rose); grandchildren: Kristel Kennedy (Zac), James Halm (Charlene), Sam Halm, John Tiemann, Julie Kocian; great grandchildren: Emery Kennedy, Gracyn Kennedy, Connor Halm and Jett Halm.

Rosalie was a CNA for 30 years until her retirement in 2005. She loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers, she had that special, "green thumb," and could make anything grow. She enjoyed baking, especially kolaches and strudel for her family and always had a supply of these during the holidays. She also was talented at creating quilts and embroidering.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at the St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. The Interment will be held at the St. James Catholic Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Kristel Kennedy, James Halm, Julie Kocian, Sam Halm and John Tiemann. The Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren: Emery Kennedy, Gracyn Kennedy, Connor Halm and Jett Halm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. James Catholic Church (510 S Camp St, Seguin, TX 78155 (830) 379-1796).
The family would like to thank Dr. Kuo, all the nurses, CNA's and staff that cared for Rosalie during the year she was at GVNC. Additionally, the family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and support.
