Richard Jesse Casarez, 69, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. He was born on November 28, 1953 in Seguin, Texas

Richard is survived by his wife, Irene Casarez; sisters, Tomasa Benavides (Richard) and Janie Paez (Alfred Cerda); daughters, Cindy Casarez, Christy (Chris) Alejos, Cathy (Brian) Squires, and son, Cruz (Adrianna) Casarez; stepdaughter, Rachel (Debbie) and stepsons, Bobby and Eddie (Shyla). He is further survived by his grandchildren Jordan (Elvira) Maldanado, Caitlin Maldanado, Robert (Caitlyn) Maldanado, Alex Maldanado, Kiana Benson, Clairissa Alejos  (Tyler Orzech), Ty Davila, Jonas Squires, Eden Casarez, Vincent Casarez, Julius Squires, Matthew Casarez, Ezra Casarez, Bryan Perez, RJ Perez, Alyssa Mitchell, and Breanna Perez; great grandchildren, Manolo Maldanado, Viviana Maldanado, Emilia Hernandez, VeraLynn Maldanado, Noah Hernandez, Adelaide Maldanado, John Perez, Sammy Perez, and Ava Mitchell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus B. Casarez and Estella Casarez, his first wife Margie Casarez, sister Gloria Pruneda, brother-in-law Fernando Pruneda and nephew Fernando Pruneda Jr.

He was affectionally known to family and friends as Uncle Slick, Slick Rick, Spanky, Big Daddy Cool, Padre, Pop and GPA.

Your life was a blessing and your love was a treasure.  How lucky were we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Goetz Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will continue on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Holy Rosay recited at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.
