Paul Emil Helfer (69), passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on March 19, 2020 at his home in Seguin, Texas. He was a loving husband to Grace Helfer, sharing 35 years of Marriage together.

Born to Emil and Elsa Helfer in Forchheim (a small village) in Karlsruhe, Germany; Paul immigrated to the United States at age eight, passing Ellis Island in New York arriving in 1958. He studied Electronics at Queensborough Community College before becoming a small business owner and professional diesel mechanic.

Paul had a lifelong love of reading, long road trips across the country, the outdoors, and his many pets throughout the years. He enjoyed regional food, cooking, and beer - all in equal measure. Paul’s life reflected his personality as a modest, hard working, and soft-spoken man, who was a good friend to all. He is remembered for his caring nature, willingness to help those around him, and being a loving husband, father, and brother.

He is survived by his wife Grace Helfer, sister and brother-in-law Irene & Martin Bennett, son and daughter-in-law Emil Helfer & Erika Gonzalez, stepdaughter and son-in-law Lorraine & Steven Gonzales, nieces Caitlyn and Claire Bennett, Dolores and Emily MacDonald, Kim Burnett, and Kristen Doyle.

A memorial service is planned to be held Sunday March 22, 2020 at Goetz Funeral Home located at 713 N. Austin St. Seguin, TX 78155. Limited visitation will be held from 1PM - 3PM.
