Mary Lou Reyes was a beloved wife, mother, and Momo during her 75 years of life. She passed away early Friday morning, on March 28th, 2025.
We will remember Mary Lou for her love of all things fabulous, her kind spirit, and the love she held for her family. She was incredibly playful, and there was not a moment spent with her that she didn’t have us laughing out loud, or shaking our heads at something funny she said.
Mary Lou had a long and full life. She was born on January 1, 1950 in Seguin, Texas, to two loving parents, Celestino Soto, Sr. and Maria Ramon Soto.
She married the love of her life, Sisto Reyes, Jr. on January 1, 1967. On New Year’s Eve 1966, Sisto and Mary Lou snuck away, telling their families they would be back soon to ring in the new year, only to secretly elope in the early hours of the morning on New Year’s Day. They were happily married for 57 wonderful years.
Sisto and Mary Lou had their first child, a son, Michael Reyes in 1967. Their only daughter, Cynthia Reyes in 1971. A son, Oscar Reyes, in 1974; and their son Benancio Soto-Reyes was born in 1982. Mary Lou was the matriarch of her family. She was in charge, and she made sure we knew. She was loved and adored because that’s how she made those around her feel. We will greatly miss her bossing us around, keeping us in line, and forever putting a smile on our face.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Sisto Reyes, Jr., and is survived by all of their loving children, Michael Reyes, Cynthia Reyes and her husband Keith Christiansen, Oscar Reyes and his wife Jennifer Ayala Reyes, and Benancio Soto-Reyes. Her nine grandchildren, Samantha Esquivel and her husband Ramon Esquivel, Cristian Flores, Mia Reyes, Draven Reyes, Kristopher Diesburg, Oscar Reyes, Jr., Nicole Reyes, Nicolas Reyes, Evelynn Reyes, and one great-grandchild.
