On January 2, 2018, Mary Margaret Bobo was blessed to go home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary Margaret was born August 8, 1919 in St. Donatos, Iowa and grew up in Seguin, Texas. For the next 98 years, she would bring much joy and love to all those in her path. Mary Margaret was the daughter of Rev. Theodore Martin Janssen and Margaret Haier. Mary Margaret's father was the pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Seguin from 1920 to 1946. Her mother was the church organist for many decades. According to Mary Margaret, time began with her Grandpa and Grandma John and Mary Haier and she was never short of stories of the adventures they shared together. Mary Margaret was blessed with a brother, Theodore Martin Janssen, Jr. in 1931. Mary Margaret often spoke of her years growing up in Seguin as the pastor's daughter and of fond memories such as her family's many trips around Texas and Mexico. Two of her very fond memories were being crowned Seguin May Queen in 1929 and her trip to New York City as a teenager. Mary Margaret graduated from Seguin High School in 1936 and then attended Texas Lutheran College where she was a member of the choir. While working at a Seguin law firm in 1942, Mary Margaret met the love of her life, Melvin Hugh Bobo of Canton, Texas while he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston with the U.S. Army Engineer Corps. They were married March 30, 1943 and proceeded to share the next 52 years of life together. After WW II, Mary Margaret joined Melvin in Europe to participate in rebuilding efforts in Germany and Italy. Since that time, over the past 70 years, Mary Margaret served in countless church and community volunteer roles in Seguin and remained an active member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church until recently. Mary Margaret always loved a good game of dominos, going on picnics and playing bridge with her friends. All children held a special place in her heart. Mary Margaret is predeceased by all family members named above and survived by many loved ones. A visitation will be held Saturday January 6, 2018 at 9:00am with a Chapel Service at 10:00am at Goetz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home.
