It is with both sadness and joy that we can come together to celebrate the life of Maria Amador Reyes, age 96, of Seguin, Texas who went to be with the Lord and entered eternal rest on Wednesday March 1, 2023.
She was a beloved daughter, sister , aunt, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and true friend to many.
Maria was born to Pedro Amador Sr. and Candelaria Martinez Amador on September 26, 1926 in Seguin Texas.
She met and married her surviving husband, Geronimo, of 77 years on July 7, 1945. She is also survived by her five children, Esther Reyes Alvarado (Reynaldo), Edward Reyes Sr (Diane), Ruben Reyes (Sophia), Bertha Reyes Facundo (Ascension) and Beatrice Reyes Ramos (Robert Rene); 10 grandchildren, Edward Reyes Jr., Reynaldo Alvarado Jr., Christopher Facundo Sr., Celeste Reyes Luna., Raquel Alvarado Reyes, Joseph Facundo, Angela Reyes Sealey, John Rene Alvarado, Lorinda Ramos Spaulding, and Jeron Rene Ramos; 21 great grandchildren, Marcus Alvarado, Anthony Isaiah Alvarado, John Michael Alvarado, Paul Rene Alvarado, Jeremy Christian Alvarado, Zachery Joseph Alvarado, Carlos Jacob Reyes, Emma Grace Reyes, Tyler Blake Ascencion, Mariel Feliz Reyes, Madeline Ruth Reyes, Matthew Edward Reyes, Elliana Kayln Luna, Marissa Danielle Luna, Emaile Marie Gonzales, Lauren Elizabeth Sealey, Tristan Luke Sealey, Christopher Facundo Jr., Maria Criselda Facundo, Christian Matthew Facundo, and Kennedy Rene Ramos.
She lived a full life surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted Catholic and was active with her church for decades ever since the church began on Jones St., including a member of the Guadalupana Society, and Cursillo Movement. She offered her services in many of the church ministries providing sweet treats for the many bake sales. She was happy to volunteer for all that was asked of her. She enjoyed putting forth her efforts to serve the Lord. She offered and taught the first communion children instruction in the care of her home back in the early 60’s, participated in the annual church bazaars, church bingos, early Sunday breakfast sales, the Divine Mercy gatherings, the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe and the Cursillo Movement Retreats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters: Maria De Jesus Gonzales, Trinidad Sepulveda, Basilisa Hall, Benito Amador Sr. Pedro Amador Jr., Tomasa Avila, Anita Gutierrez, and Susana Castillo. She is survived by her brothers, Porfirio Amador and Antonio Gutierrez of Seguin.
Our most sincere gratitude to the Guadalupe Regional Hospice Care Team of Seguin, Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter, Father Robert Delong, Eucharistic Minister Mary Alice, Dr. Thomas H. Raetzsch, and our caregiver Sandra Philips.
Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited by Deacon Nick Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by a procession to St. James Cemetery for interment.
