Maria Burns

Seguin resident of 13 years was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on July 19,1940. She married her husband and lifelong soulmate of 53 years, Darrell Leroy Burns. Maria was a stay at home mother to her four daughters: Melinda Chavez, Melissa Villarreal, Teresa Rodriguez, and Terry Gallegos, and son Gerald Burns. Maria attended church at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in Quemado, Texas, and later Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Seguin, Texas, supporting the church community any way she could. Maria has a total of 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is known for serving her church community, her love for gardening, baking, watching the Food Network channel and caring for her family.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Elguezabal, Luz Elguezabal and her sister Carmen Elguezabal. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Darrell, siblings, Sylvia Pittman, Martha Burden, Rosamaria Telles, Rosa Elia Lewis, Anna Gilmore, Jose Elguezabal Jr., Cristina Miller, Angie Farhart, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maria went to be with the Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 11th, 2018. Visitation will be held at the Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, Texas on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas, followed by her burial at the Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery.

Refreshments will be served at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church reception hall immediately after her Rites to burial. Maria Antonieta Burns is a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Her presence will greatly be missed, but she will continue in our hearts, in our memories, and in our faith forever. Rest in peace, Love Forever and Always, your family.
