Leonard Kotara

Leonard Flaviano Kotara passed away on April 15,2018. He was surrounded by family in the comfort of his home in Seguin, Texas when the Lord called him to his side.

Leonard was born on January 30, 1933 to Flavian and Anastasia Kotara in Falls City, Texas. He married his sweetheart, Cecilia Rose Keller on June 8, 1954. They had 6 beautiful children together and enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Cecilia joined the Lord in 2005. They had 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He served his country for two years in the army while his wife Cecilia waited for his return so they could start a beautiful family of their own.

He was strong in his faith, joining mass every Sunday at St. James Catholic Church and a proud member of The Knights of Columbus.

He was a quiet soul but a strong, loyal, and hardworking man. He was an entrepreneur and a craftsman, happiest working in his shop building beautiful pieces of furniture for his family to enjoy.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, 7 siblings, Annie Skloss, Cleophus, Julian, Benedict, Sixtus, Fred, Rosie Rutkowski; and his wife Cecilia Rose Kotara. He is survived by his son, Steve Kotara and wife Shirley; son, Timothy Kotara; daughter,Deborah Kotara; son, David Kotara and wife Kathy; daughter, Carol Wiatrek; son, Patrick Kotara and wife Lynae; his 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church (510 S Camp Street, Seguin, Texas 78155), on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with committal services to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266)
