Larry "Pete" Peters

Larry “Pete” Peters – 87, of Marion, TX died on February 27, 2023.

He was born February 10, 1936, to Ray and Ruby Peters.

Pete married Wilma Taylor on March 2, 1973.  Wilma passed on June 27, 2020.

In 1987, Pete and Wilma moved to Texas from Illinois and eventually owned and operated Peters Truck Line.

Larry is survived by his children: Tom (Becky) Peters, Julie (Pat) Pioletti, and special dauther-in-law, Karen Taylor.  His grandchildren include: Kristen (Brian) Axford, Conner (Paige) Peters, Jordan (Kelsey) Peters, Luke Peters, Jarrod (Teresa) Spoonemore and Jacy Spoonemore.  He is also survived by his brother, Mark (Miriam) Peters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dick Peters and sister, Lu Perry.

Pete never had the desire to retire because he was too busy and loved seeing people!  He loved trucks and driving. He was recently restoring a 1976 Peterbilt.

Pete was a member of The Country Church in Marion for the last 18 years. One of the things that he was most proud of in life was his service in the church. He was a greeter for many years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, 2:00pm, at The Country Church with Brother Butch officiating.

The family would like to thank all of his fellow truck drivers and church friends for the outpouring of support they have shown and stories they have shared.  One that will stay with us was when asked by a fellow truck drivers how he kept track of payments, he replied with his hand over his heart “It’s in my heart”.
