Josephina Longoria

Josefina Rangel Longoria was born to Domingo and Sara Rangel on November 20, 1958 and passed away at the age of 58 on December 28, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sara Rangel and Domingo Rangel Sr.; brothers, Benito and Domingo Rangel, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Joe Longoria; children, Ricky Longoria, Natalie Avalos (Marcus), Joe (Pico) Longoria (Jane); honorary daughter, Stella Herrera (Lula); brother, Martin Rangel (Lupe); sisters, Gloria Bogdan, Sara Contreras (Mingo), Isabel (Chavela) Bittner (Carl), Vicky Sanchez (James); her beloved grandchildren, Erin, Amber, Bianca, Lucas, Logan, Lindsey, David, Joe Jr., Jesse, Olivia, and Joaquin & numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, in-laws, and extended-adopted family members and friends who all she loved very much.

Josie worked many years at the Texas Lutheran University Snack Bar in Seguin and was co-owner of the Brief Encounters, home of the Seguin PAGA. She cooked and volunteered countless hours for the golfers of the Seguin Chapter of the Pan American Golf Association and has always graciously offered the Brief to hold numerous benefits and fundraisers in honor of others in need.

Josie fought a hard, courageous battle against cancer. She will be deeply missed by all that loved and knew her. The family would like to thank everyone for all of their support, prayers and well wishes during the past four years as well as the stellar care of her caretakers, doctors and staff including the GRMC and hospice staff.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 pm with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Goetz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Seguin, TX. A burial will follow at Santo Tomas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, TX.
