Joan Torstrick passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 at home with family and friends present. She fought cancer for several years but succumbed to it this last round.
Joan was born in Liverpool, England and lived there until her marriage at 18 to Dean Harris (deceased at 49). Dean brought her to his home state of Indiana, and they had four children together: Dale (deceased), Rick, Dennis, and Susan. She married Bill Torstrick after being a widow for a few years. As a young child, she was in England during World War II. Her father, Henry Pulley fought for the homeland and survived. He passed away at age 68 in 1980, also of cancer. Both he and Joan found faith after hearing the gospel message and faithfully followed in the Lord’s footsteps. It was truly her first love and source of strength. In her last days, she was so very grateful for what she had received 43 years earlier and was totally content and at peace with God in the face of death. (Her dad passed away 3 months after they both started their walk in faith). Besides her children mentioned above, Joan is survived by two brothers, Raymond (Patty) Pulley, and Leslie Pulley, along with a half-sister Pam Brett, who resides in Oldham, England; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was a good mother, sister, and friend to all. She loved all and was loved of all.
We appreciate very much the care of aids and nurses from Guadalupe Regional Hospice that did all they could to help keep Joan comfortable. A Special thanks to Lisa Daly and family for their exceptional help and care.
