Jacqueline "Jackie" Valentien went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2017.She was born on March 8, 1938 in Alice, Texas to Edwin and Evelyn Kershaw. Jacqueline started her teaching career at Ben Bolt ISD for 2 years, taught in Corpus Christi for 18 years at St. James Episcopal, and retired from Marion ISD after 15 years of dedicated service to her students. She created the Storybook Station at Marion Community Library and volunteered throughout the community. She was recognized by Time Warner in 2000 as the Home Town Hero in Marion and also as the Marion Lions Club Citizen of the Year in 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Ralph H. Valentien. Ralph and Jackie were married for 53 years. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Valentien of Kingsbury; son Mark Valentien and wife Connie of Waco; sister-in-law Joan Dudman of Luling; two grandchildren Jacob Valentien and fiancé Stacie Gabriel, and Kayley Valentien; and many other lifelong friends. A Visitation will start on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Goetz Funeral Home. A Church Service will begin on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm at John's Lutheran Church in Marion. A Graveside Service will then be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Premont Cemetery in Premont, Texas.Arrangements under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin, TX.
