Irene Fletcher

Irene Sophia Schwab Fletcher has taken her wings and gone home to her heavenly Father at the age of 85 years old.  Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother took her flight home on January 21, 2023.

She was born August 1, 1937 in Tardea Hills, Wilson County, Texas to Gilbert Schwab and Pauline Krueger Schwab.

Irene was baptized on September 12, 1937.  Irene was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Karnes City, Texas on July 5, 1953 by Arnold J. Thrig.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Schwab and Pauline Krueger Schwab Holtz; son, Gilbert Henry Fletcher; sons-in-law, Bob Archer and David Bunton; grandson, Derrick Bunton; granddaughter, Grace Fletcher Radley; great granddaughter, Emma Grace Sparkman; sisters, Lois Samsel/Harry Samsel, Ruth Wittig/Alvin Wittig; sister-in-law, Carrie Ann Schwab and brothers-in-law Henry Pape and Tony Pawlik.

She is survived by daughter, Ellen Archer of Seguin, Texas; sisters, Annie Pape of Poth, Texas, Julia Foerster (Gus) of Marion, Texas and Pat Pawlik of Marion, Texas; brother, Billy Schwab of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Angie (Younes Rahhali) of Austin, Texas, Daniel Bunton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michelle Bunton (Michail Jakola) of Seguin, Texas, Dianna Bunton of Seguin, Texas, Benjamin (Maria) Fletcher of Fort Knox, Kentucky, April Cook (David) of Holdenville, Oklahoma, and Andrew Fletcher of Yukon, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Saraya Rahhali, Faiza Rahhali and Ayla Rahhali of Pflugerville, Texas,  Autumn Osmer, Conner Jakola, Dylan Jakola, Julia Jakola, and Jarrette Jakola of Seguin, Texas, Cody Fletcher, and Gunner Fletcher of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Kelsie Cook, David Cook, and Jessy Cook of Holdenville, Oklahoma, and Aurora Radley of Murphy, North Carolina. Irene is further survived by many friends, family and her cat Brownie.

Serving as Pallbearers will be J.C. Batey, Tracy Batey, Ronnie Pape, Jerry Pape, Terry Huth, and Edward Schwab. Honorary Pallbearers will Carlton Pape, Otto Kopecki and all of Irene’s nephews.

Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Paul Theiss will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Marion, Texas. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Marion, Texas.
