Elisabeth Holm

Elisabeth Lindenberg Holm died peacefully on February 10, 2018 in her daughter's home at the age of 100. Elisabeth was born on March 22, 1917 to Rev. Otto and Else Lindenberg in the Trinity Lutheran parsonage in Stonewall, Texas.

Her parents were Lutheran missionaries from Germany, serving several Texas communities. She went to school in Frelsburg, Coryell and Gatesville, then earned a teacher's certificate at North Texas Women's Teacher College. She taught schools in Hilda near Mason and Cave Creek near Fredericksburg for a couple of years before she married Rev Julius Holm in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksbug on August 19, 1941. They served congregations in Muscatine in Iowa, Dodge City in Kansas, Doss, Cherry Springs, Witting and Moulton in Texas. She taught school in Moulton for a couple of years. They raised five children and in 1979 they retired to New Braunfels, Texas where they lived until 2007. Their daughter, Rev Mag Holm-Roesler, and son-in-law, Rev Charles Roesler, cared for them in their home in Austin and later in Seguin. Elisabeth faithfully corresponded with relatives and friends and maintained close ties with many people. She was a favorite confidant of everyone that knew her, always supporting and encouraging them. She also followed current events closely through the news by TV, newspapers and magazines.

She is survived by her five children: Michael and his wife Verlyn, Magdalene and her husband Charles, Stephen and his wife Suellen, Elsa and Lois; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her four brothers: Hans, Paul, Werner and Kurt.

Goetz Funeral Home at 713 N Austin St in Seguin Texas 78155 will handle the arrangements and visitation will be on Friday, Feb 16, from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1104 N. Magnolia Ave in Luling, Texas 78648 on Saturday, Feb 17, at 10 am. She will be buried beside her husband in Greenwood Cemetery at 1665 N. Llano Hwy in Fredericksburg, Texas at 4 pm.
