Dewey Glenn Coley, 86, of Seguin, Texas passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 22, 1938, Dewey was a devoted Christian, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother “Bubba”, uncle, cousin and friend. He is preceded in death by his father, Dewey H. Coley, his mother, Thelma Coley, and his wife of 48 years, Janice Coley. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lynn Coley, his daughters, Susan Logsdon and husband Gary, Carla Atkinson and husband Scott, son, David Coley, sister, Faye Story and husband Mike, his granddaughter, Amy Risbon and husband Chris, grandson, Kyle Atkinson, great-grandson, Max Risbon, nieces, Carrie Livesay, Elizabeth Shahan and husband Brian, great nieces, Charlotte Livesay, Katie Leigh Livesay, Amelia Livesay, Luci Shahan, great nephew, Clarke Livesay, Jones Shahan, and great-great nephew, Asher Livesay.
Dewey’s life was marked by service, both to his faith and to his community. He served the Lord with a humble heart and steadfast devotion. He gave his time and his heart where he served devotedly as a deacon in each of his home churches throughout his life. He worked for many years as the Personnel Director at the Dallas County Tax Office, where he was known for his integrity and dedication to his work. Wanting to impact his community for good, he served tirelessly as a City Councilman in Lancaster, Texas. During his later years, he continued serving countless others as he volunteered for the Gray Army at the First Baptist Church of Seguin.
Above all, Dewey loved his family dearly. His unwavering support and commitment to those he loved were the cornerstones of his life. He was a man of deep faith, kindness, and compassion. He will be missed by all who knew him. Dewey’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, knowing he is now with his Lord.
A celebration of Dewey’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Seguin, Texas on January 25, 2025 at 11 AM. It will be officiated by Dr. Brice Mandaville and is under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin, Texas.
