Dale (Danny) Norman, age 70 of Seguin, passed away on January 5, 2023 at his home.  Danny was born on June 28, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee to Gene F. and Margie I. (Hall) Norman.  He was the first born of three sons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Norman, and is survived by his mother, Margie Norman.  Other close surviving family members include his daughter Leila Reynolds, brothers James Thomas Norman and Stephen Wayne Norman and cousin Dawn Moy (husband Barry Moy) and second cousin Megan Moy.

The family moved multiple times while Danny was growing up.  They lived in several southern states and many locations in Texas.  After graduating Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio he served in the United States Army and married Lisa Robinson.  They had a daughter, Leila Marie.

Danny served his country for two years during the Vietnam War.  He was proud to be a veteran who earned the National Defense Service Medal.  After his service, he worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T in San Antonio for over 30 years.  He put his vast mechanical and analytical skills to good use during his tenure in the Air Conditioning and Heating Maintenance Department.  The size of the buildings necessitated continuous monitoring and repair.

He was a complex man with many seemingly contradictory traits and qualities.  He was an avid hunter and marksman yet pampered his pet dove.  His mechanical skills enabled him to repair almost anything yet he could play any musical instrument available.  His Harley Davidson allowed him to cruise around the countryside (long hair blowing) and the renovation of his International Scout brought him much pride (and frustration).  He was an avid reader and brain twister solver.  He was a maniac for neatness and order – his “junk” drawer was a testament to neatness.  Yet his idea of filing any paperwork was to throw everything in a very large plastic bin willy-nilly.

Danny had a generous heart and used his skills and resources to help friends, family, and those who were brought into his daily life with no expectation of anything in return.  He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

A special thank you to the aides from Homewell Care Services, especially Katie, for their care as well as Hope Hospice.

A Memorial Service with Military honors celebrating Danny’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital for children.
