Chong-Ae Lam peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, 6/7/22 at the age of 73. She was born to Lee Chang Joo and Park Hee Sun on 2/24/1949 in Korea.
Chong-Ae Lam is preceded in death by her husband, Nga “Ling” Lam and her parents, Lee Chang Joo and Park Hee Sun.
She is survived by her son and daughter respectively, William Lam and Courtney Lam.
Chong-Ae Lam, known by the moniker “Lee,” was a devout Christian, who valued her family and friends above all else. She spent her formative years with a humble upbringing in Korea before she immigrated along with her brothers and sisters to the United States during the 1980’s. It was then she met her husband, Ling, while working at a Chinese restaurant.
Soon after, they embarked on a journey to realize their ultimate dream of owning their own restaurant and to start a family. Lee and Ling eventually landed in Seguin, TX, and it wasn’t long before they achieved the American Dream by opening the doors of Dragon Place in 1982, which was the first restaurant of its kind in the city. The couple was blessed with the births of their children, William, in 1986 and their daughter, Courtney, in 1987. Through the birth of Dragon Place, the two were able to meet and remain close with so many amazing people and became known as a place of community while providing delicious meals to all who entered their doors. It goes without saying that Lee was a central reason for the restaurant's raving success, carving her identity as the loving, sassy matriarch, who was always prepared to fill your belly with appetizing comfort food with a smile on her face, bringing joy to all who crossed paths with her. Although her presence on Earth will be dearly missed, let us honor her memory and remember a humble lesson she impressed upon everyone—to never forget the importance of sharing a meal with those you love.
